2021 is the year DIYS make a comeback. With everyone trying to stay safe and home, we’ve got to get creative! People all over the world have taken a new liking to make food from different countries and their favourite restaurants. In a way, this Pandemic has pushed all of us to get in touch with our innovative side. Recreating meals, experiences, and redefining things like celebrations, life events, or something as simple as family time has become a necessity and an essential social trend.
Being away from those we love has made social media a vital part of our everyday lives. Sharing, posting, and retweeting has become the new lunch date or dinner party. Although we are so disconnected, our online presence has made us more connected than ever.
So what I’m saying, is get funky and keep it authentic. Your online profile should be a window into who you are as a person. Try out a new dance on IG Reels, or give us a cooking vlog on IGTV. Download TikTok and find your voice. Be a vlogger, foodie, dancer, comedian, or just you.
The most important trend this year is to just be there. Be active, be online and get connecting. Don’t miss out just because you have to stay home. 2021 is all about redefining the norms in your own personal way.
What Makes a Brand’s Social Presence Stand Out?
Staying in the know is so difficult in the fast-paced world we live in. Although we should be telling you to stay off your phones and go outdoors, you might want to do the opposite. Any given brand shouldn’t want to be lost in a crowd. The whole point is to stand out. But how do you do that when there are 20 brands just like you right next door? The answer is something you’ve heard since you were a child. Be yourself.
Switch up from being a team behind a brand to being a real person behind the brand. Make every interaction feel personal, authentic, and casual. You want people to feel like they are dealing with a real person, who has likes, dislikes, and a real personality. Not just a bot behind a screen.
Spend time viewing, rather than always creating. Being unique is important, but there’s no shame in getting ideas from other accounts. See what’s cool and see what people like. Take those ideas, and give it some tweaks, make it yours. Give your viewers content you enjoy seeing.
Get interactive with your audience. They want to know that it’s not a one-sided relationship! I mean, how would you feel if you kept on complimenting someone who never compliments you back?
Are you sensing a trend here? I’ll say it again… keep it authentic! Be as real as possible, and stay active online.
The Demand for Live Streams
At this point, I think you know what I’m going to say. It’s all about getting personal!
I’m totally guilty of doing this, and I’m sure you are too. I love stalking my favourite celebrities. I know them so well, sometimes I forget we aren’t friends. I know I know, it’s a little embarrassing, but no shame in it. They create content and put themselves out there for that exact reason. And I’ll tell you how to use it to your advantage.
Don’t you ever wonder why some people are famous for doing nothing? It’s all about information. The more you know about someone the more invested you are in their lives. Give your audience the perfect amount of personal details, and you’ll have them coming back for more.
You want them to feel like they are having a private tea session with you like they would with their best friend. And in comes the ever daunting live stream. Being on the spot and not having a script can get super scary. But it’s the vulnerability and intimacy that draws people in. It’s supposed to feel like any other conversation, but it’s so much more than that.
The beauty of live streams is that they don’t last forever. The lucky group who make it in time to watch have an exclusive opportunity to hang out with you.
Now for the content itself, keep it interesting. Have a chat about your day’s agenda while making your morning coffee, or spill some details from your day while winding down with your night routine. Essentially, it’s an equation.
Activity + Information you can’t get anywhere else = engaged audience.
There you have it, change it around, and find your balance, but this equation is as good as gold.
