Although it can be a little testing at times, spending our days at home has also had its benefits when it comes to taking care of our skin and using our time wisely to invest and really put our skincare regimes to the test.
One of the huge advantages of working from home has to be not wearing any make-up and really letting our skin breathe. That said, if you are anything like me, I find I work better when I look and feel my best and so I have still been wearing a little make-up, albeit a very simplified version of my usual full face.
Spending just ten minutes on a morning and evening indulging in a luxurious skincare ritual not only brings a little joy to start and end your day with, but also pays dividends when it comes to keeping your skin clear, fresh and thoroughly hydrated.
Firstly I always cleanse my skin with The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser. I personally find a rich balm works best on my skin and this one just melts in quickly and removes every trace of make-up, even on my eyes. Being a busy working and full-time mama, I love products that are both quick and efficient. I pop this on before I jump in the shower and rinse off with a muslin cloth – easy peasy!
Every other day I use a face scrub whilst I’m showering and my favourite by far is the Kora Organics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask. You can use it as a scrub or as a weekly mask, applying for 20 minutes and rinsing off and my skin always feels lovely and soft afterwards. (My eldest is also partial to it and being certified organic with no nasties I know he is in good hands!).
Post shower I simply pop on the Balancing Spritz and Hyaluronic Serum from Pestle & Mortar. This is my first time using the brand and I’ve been really impressed so far. Aside from the chic monochrome packaging that looks pretty on my bathroom shelf (yes – I am a sucker for packaging), both products feel fresh with the Balance Spritz working to refresh and calm my skin and the Hyaluronic Acid Serum that hydrates and helps with those pesky fine lines and wrinkles – eek!
Lastly, and this is my favourite and wonder product of them all – the Kora Organics Noni Glow Oil. This has replaced all of my moisturisers and I would be so lost without it! I keep a mini version for travelling (you know, that thing we used to do!) and I literally smother it on my face morning, (sometimes noon) and night. Although it’s an oil, don’t be put off as it absorbs super quickly and my make-up goes on absolutely fine afterwards. Again, it is certified organic and works to soften fine lines and wrinkles, improves the skin and just generally makes my skin so soft and dewy. I’ve certainly noticed a difference since using it and I also pop it on any burns or bites, and even my boys! Being Miranda Kerr’s brand, anything that gives me skin a fraction as glowing as hers and I’ll be happy! If I’m feeling a little extra I will use my Salt by Hendrix Face Roller to massage it in and give my skin a little circulation boost too.
And that’s it! I can do this in less than ten minutes and my skin feels soft, hydrated and ready for the day ahead.
My evening ritual is pretty much the same aside from swapping the Hyaluronic Serum every other evening for the Rodial Glycolic Drops or my new latest obsession; Alpha H Liquid Gold. Having heard so many great things about this resurfacing product I just had to try it for myself. It’s only day 3 but I love it and have been raving about it to all who will listen! A little goes a long way and you just soak a cotton pad with the product and swipe over the skin. It stings very slightly but I like to think of that as doing its job. It works overnight to exfoliate and clear pores whilst brightening your complexion. Again, it’s quick and easy and does what it says – I’m hooked!
Although I love to try new skincare, I am a complete creature of habit and once I find something that really works for me, I tend to stay loyal to it. So much so, my other half even noticed that my face smelt different this week as I hopped into bed with my new Alpha H! Now if that’s not observant I don’t know what is! 😉
Here’s to happy skincare days ahead!
