My name is Qulsoum and I’m currently interning at TishTash, here is a day in my life as an intern. I had been considering a career change and the internship offered to me was all about PR which seemed like an interesting opportunity that I didn’t want to miss! I had already heard a lot of positive things about TishTash as it has certainly created a successful and well-reputed name for itself in the industry, with its incredible work and women-led team. Which girl wouldn’t want to be a TishTashian?!
When I walked into the office on my first day, a little apprehensively I must add, I was pleasantly surprised by the cute and quirky décor. With pink hearts and black polka dots decorating the walls, a pick n mix candy area, pink accents and vibrant artwork, I felt like I was in the Hogwarts of women’s beauty. Not to mention the pretty notebook and pink pen with “Be your own kind of beautiful” written on it, which I was gifted with on my desk. My team smiled at me warmly and I received a lovely welcome from everyone. I felt right at home in no time! It was particularly inspiring to see the diversity within the TishTash team and the fact that there is a broad range of different ages and experience from graduates to working mothers.
I was very quickly introduced to the working world of PR in my first week with coverage to clip, reports to fill out and gift bags to prepare for influencers. With some blog and press release writing thrown in as well as two events to attend, I’ve had a lot to get my teeth into. They don’t mess around here, and they certainly get things done! Working with such a positive and hardworking team has meant that I have been able to get a real taste of what it is like to work in the world of PR. You have to be on the ball with your clients and make sure that they are seeing the results and exposure they desire. It’s an intense but rewarding industry to be in.
At TishTash, they definitely work hard but also play hard! On Thursday, it was the last day for one of the girls and we were all asked to come to work in our pyjamas. At lunch we chatted over pizza, chocolates and sparkling water and it was a lovely way to end the week in full TishTash flair. Wellness is also important here at TishTash and our CEO Tash was kind enough to organise an online meditation for all of us during the week. This is definitely a positive and uplifting working environment to be in and as much as work is the main focus, they still have fun and make sure everyone is doing good mentally and emotionally.
My internship with TishTash is already preparing me for the working world of PR and what it entails. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week here and I would really encourage anyone interested in PR to take on an internship at TishTash if given the opportunity!
