We love how beauty trends change with the season, but in the age of COVID-19, they changed so drastically we felt that we just had to write about it.
Here are some trends we noticed during the time of COVID-19!
With all the mask-wearing as a part of COVID-prevention, many of us noticed an increase in acne under our masks, which was frustrating especially after finally getting our skincare routine just right! This problem is one that changed the game for everyone, because everyone upped their skincare routine and made sure to take extra care of their skin to treat all the nasty maskne and prevent it from happening! The things that probably saw most increase of usage are sheet masks, serums and mattifying moisturizers that help people feel comfortable wearing a mask for several hours a day.
Foundation? No thanks!
With stay-at-home quarantine, a lot of people realized that heavy make-up, especially foundation, wasn’t an every day thing and definitely wasn’t a priority on most people’s shopping list! Because of the hot summer weather and the mask regulations, full face make-up is now largely considered a waste as it would melt off before the end of the day and it wouldn’t look good once the mask went off anyway! So, we said goodbye to good old foundation routine, and we stuck with gorgeous eye-make-up instead!
Bold lips? Not anymore!
Have you ever had a beautiful lippy on before you left the house and donned your mask, and once you reached the office or your date you find out that it smudged all around your lips – and your face? Us too! Lipstick horrors have become an everyday thing for a lot of us, which is why a nice lip moisturizer and a lip tint is what we reach for nowadays instead of our favourite lip colour!
Salon Appointments – Cancelled?
Beauty salons had become an integral part of our beauty routine, if it was a colour refresh, simple mani-pedi, or even a brow-wax! But ever since COVID barged into our lives, people had to start learning to do things themselves, and not be Salon-dependent! Sales for beauty tools have gone up, and salon appointments have gone down as people learned all the tips and tricks of self-care at home.
Beauty in the age of COVID-19 has experienced a major shift with many transitioning from make-up-focused to skincare-focused regimes, with people all over the world prioritizing the health of their skin as opposed to simply splurging on expensive beauty products and the outside look of their face. Whilst a huge change, it can be viewed as a positive change on the whole as people everywhere would finally feel more comfortable in their own skin when they work on treating it, rather than just covering up!
